Training Course Reports: Nepal & Bhutan

The NDRF Academy, Nagpur, continues to excel in its mandate to strengthen international disaster response capacity, having successfully concluded specialized Search and Rescue (SAR) training programs for officials from Nepal and Bhutan. These initiatives have played a pivotal role in fostering robust bilateral partnerships and aligning regional disaster management standards.

International Training

1. Advanced ToT in SAR Course for Bhutan Officials

This 6-week Training of Trainers (ToT) program, conducted from 28/10/2024 to 10/12/2024 for 20 participants, was marked by high levels of engagement and instructional excellence. The participants provided stellar feedback on the course's content, specifically highlighting the "eye-opening" impact of the MFR modules and the high quality of the newly introduced CSSR equipment. The instructors were widely praised for their subject-matter expertise, approachability, and professional delivery, which ensured that all indoor lectures and field practicals were both effective and fruitfully conducted. Furthermore, the academy’s commitment to providing a top-tier learning environment was reflected in the "Very Good" ratings given for overall administration, institutional amenities and the efficient logistical management of the entire training schedule.

2. Emergency Search and Rescue Course for Nepal Officials

Held from 24/02/2025 to 13/03/2025, this 3-week program hosted 25 participants who engaged in an intensive curriculum covering essential USAR and INSARAG methodologies. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with the course design receiving top marks for its logical structure and clarity. The training was lauded for its high instructional standards, where faculty effectively utilized realistic simulations, specialized equipment, and interactive case studies to ensure deep skill acquisition. Trainees particularly commended the cordial, supportive attitude of the course staff, noting that the combination of theoretical depth and hands-on drills was highly beneficial for their professional development in CSSR operations.
